Mrs. R.’s Nugget of News
Week of February 21, 2012
*** The Bible memorization test tomorrow is: 1 John 4:10-11. Next week’s verse will be: Phil.
2:5-8.
*** Next Extra help in Math session will be Monday, February 27th. For the next two
weeks, I will be available (and highly recommend) during recess on any Tuesday or Wednesday at
recess to give those needing extra help in math. As always, for 6th-8th graders, I am always available
during their hour long study hall on Mondays. Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
*** Skiing for 5th graders… FCCS fifth graders will participate in the annual Snowbowl Ski
trip on March 5th. All forms were placed in the Thursday Folder today. I need them returned by
next Thursday at the latest. I have completed the shoe size on the liability release form. You need to
sign that form. You also need to fill in their age, weight, and height on that form. The photo release
form gets signed only by you. The top letter on that packet is a parent informational letter. Even
though it says to bring a sack lunch or money to buy lunch, please only send a sack lunch. The food
at Snowbowl costs too much money and takes too long to stand in line to purchase it. We are
looking for another chaperone or two that have their own season pass and equipment. Other
chaperones are welcome, but the cost for you to chaperone without a season pass would be $66.00
(hence why we are looking for chaperones with season passes).
*** Mr. Haughey (Harrison and Jackson’s Dad) had surgery earlier this week. If you would
love to bless their family (2 parents, 6 kids) with a meal to help Mrs. Haughey, please let me
know by jotting me a quick note.
*** Your child received a copy of their speech meet poem this past week… It should be
kept in their binder, so it is available for them to study whether they are at school or they are
at home. Enclosed in Today’s Thursday Folder is a copy for you to keep at home for their personal
practice time and for your availability to monitor their progress. The fourth through eighth graders
will present their memorized poems on March 22nd.
*** Here’s the exciting news I promised last week…. As part of our cowboy unit/speech
meet we will have the opportunity to recite (and record) our poems at KAFF radio on
Saturday, March 24th. I will have groups of 5 students show up at each session (9 AM, 9:20, and
9:40). The recording will be aired on their Sunday morning show “Under Western Skies” at 7AM for
the following few weeks. This is another great way to give the community exposure to our great
students, our great school, and the great gifts our Great God has placed in us. Further
communication about details and plans will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
